Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB)
Books, teamwork, and a little friendly competition, what's not to love?
Register your student for OBOB and they'll read 16 fantastic books with their team and compete for a spot at Regionals in March!

What is OBOB?
It’s a statewide reading challenge where teams read 16 awesome books and go head-to-head in friendly trivia battles. Read, team up, and compete!

Who can participate?
Every 3rd–8th grader, at any reading level! Form your own team of four or we'll place you on one, and each teammate becomes the expert on four of the 16 books. Teams sharpen their skills in monthly practice battles, then face off in our school battle. The champion team in each grade group (Grades 3-5 and Grades 6-8) heads to Regionals in early March to take on other schools in our area!
Who organizes it?
This is a free program supported by the Sherwood Charter School and the PAC (Parent Advisory Committee), powered by parent volunteers! Parents host monthly after-school practice battles starting mid-October until February (dates TBD) and coach teams, who meet weekly on their own schedule. We're hoping for 5–8 volunteers so everyone can take turns. Want to help? Email us – We'd love to have you on the team!
